I've heard of people catching steelhead while beach fishing for cutties. Very rare though...I imagine because they are on the move a lot. It would be neat to see what Steel look like in the ocean. I imagine this bright, gleaming chrome bullet dancing in my head! LOL Cheers! -Nathan in NW

It's a very rare catch in salt water... however, years ago at Epsom Point I caught one on a pearl blue Zzinger. I've heard of a few other caught around the Sunshine coast but all 15 years ago or more. Definatly not something you would target. More like you'd bump into it.
Have fun, Jason

I caught a steelhead not far from the QA marker a couple years ago in March, fishing for springs at 70' with a flasher/anchovie combo. It was a wild fish about 12 pounds, it was safely released after an excellent fight. Sure wish I had a camera!!!!!!
