I know that this has probably covered before but here I go. I am planning a camping trip with my other half this summer. Starting from the Island and head'n all the way to Calgary. So I threw the idea at her about stopping for a day of Jet Boating and Sturgeon fishing. And she is being quite receptive ot the idea. So then is July (first half) worth doing or should I put it off for another time of year. Like August, September etc..... I just want the first time to be worth it. Haveing been a guide myself in CR and in QCI, I would not try this with out one. So any input on timeing and guides and even places. Would be greatly appreciated....
Thank you in advance for your help.

Last July I/we had some 5 or 6 fish days in only about 4 - 5 hours on the river. On the other hand you could wait till September/October/Nov as it is great then too. The times in between are decent as well. ;)

It's really a role of the dice.

The fishing should be really good from the 15th of August thru to November...Pinks in the river then chum. Not so sure about the earlier months, but once the pinks show in numbers, the "holes" are pretty full of sturgeon looking for A FREE LUNCH OR DINNER!!................Ortho 8)

Hey Vf, Fishing usually picks up in June after the freshet calms down and drops the levels a bit. Like GF stated July can be great and the weather is generally great. August can be insane on the river with sockeye fever it brings out alot of the part time and weekend warriors who think they own the river, but with the amount of food in the water the fishing really picks up and stays hot till mid oct., then slowly quiets down for a couple months.

Sorry guys I have not been around the computer lately. Thanks for the info. I thought about it and I think I will wait for the food chain to show up. I want the first time not to be a skunk'n. Like anything is a sure-thing in fishing. But the chances sound better a little later.
Do you recommend any guides to look up?
