i went up to sunrise lake to check it out .crazy trail be prepared ! but anyways when i got up to the lake to my surprise the beautiful lake had a layer of oil on it .i talked to a couple campers that were there for 3 days and they said there was no fish jumping so i asked about the oil and they pointed out why .some one lost there jeep wagoneer in the lake all you can see is bubbles of oil and gas leeking out of it .they tried to dive down to it but they said its deep and the lights are pointing up . if you can get it out it has nice tires and rims and you would help that little secret jem of a lake out .i just hope that no one was in it when it happend cause they might still be in it . :-X

There's really only one obstacle to get to Sunrise Lake...the "V" Rock. Stock trucks can get up there with no problems if you're careful with tire placement. This is the V Rock:

Of course with low gearing and cable lockers front and rear, it's way too easy and you have to find creative ways to make it more interesting. ;)

Too bad about that Heep in the water spewing oil and fuel...a real bummer.

Yup...on a tiny little stock GEO Tracker, it's very exciting. On my Land Cruiser...a bit on the boring side. If you want exciting, there's a lot of other trails in Harrison West that will test a vehicle a lot more. Of course the nice part about Sunrise Lake, even though it's an easy trail, is that at the end you get to see a beautiful little lake...that used to hold some little fish in it.

yes, so many nice trails in Harrison, I have been there last year. the only thing is at this time of the year (especially the w-e) being on these trials is like being on the highway, too many cars going up and down. ok, we are out of the topic now

So after posting a link of this thread on a 4x4 site that I use for logging road reports there has been a crew that went up to the lake to take a look at the "problem". They made an attempt at recovering the vehicle, they got to the point of having the front half of the vehicle out of the water. However because of the steep shoreline and the fact that the truck is coming out on its roof they could not fully recover the jeep from the lake. They will be heading back up on saturday it seems, and they have been in contact with a few different government agencies about the truck in the water. The problem is that not just any tow truck can simply drive up there as Stone has shown with a pic of "V" rock. Here is a link to BC 4x4:

sorry i took so long to do another post i been working to much .i did tell a few people about the truck they all said they wanted to try and pull it out and also said they would contact some people from 4x4 BC i hope they did .but its in the worst spot possable .its good that you guys have been talking about it to people .hopefully this Saturday they get it out but its a big jeep you will need multipull trucks and some big chain hoists . that was my first time up there and to see that really bummed us out . keep me posted about it getting pulled out i made it up there in my Cherokee it only has a 2 inch lift and 30 inch bf mud terrains its all to do with tire placement straddle the v rock and air down your tires a bit

im happy to see that they have gotten the engine out of the water that should cut down on the fluids continuing to seep into the lake. thats a pretty steep bank to be pulling it up out of though

yes, they did a good job. the shocking thing is that apparently the guy who lost the truck there went back home and didn't make any call to try to recover or remove it from the lake. he asked instead his dad to look for another truck. amazing. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

crazy do you know how long it was in the water for ? are your friends going keep the jeep as a trophy ? lol they should at least keep the tires ha ha ha hey hook you should see the rest of the hill they must have parked it just below the one camp site and it must have popped out of gear the crazy thing is if it would have turned 3 feet either way it would have smacked into a tree and that kid would still have is ride oh well hopefully in time the oil and gas will some how get out of the lake

It's absolutely absurd that someone can dump a jeep in a lake like that without ramifications. Isn't there some kind of recourse that the authorities should be pursuing for cleanup costs or ?????

well one year we were at Pegleg and a young guy dumped his Jeep into the river bt luckily the back tires stayed on land, so he was able to get a towtruck to come pull it away because the front half was bobbing and leaking fluids. DFO showed up abuot 20mins after the tow truck had left with the truck and he said they got lucky cause its $5000 per fluid leaked into the water  and from what we could see floating there was 3. I dont know if this is the proper amount for the offense but thats what he was going to charge those people
