Hey Britguy, we were trolling between Bonniebrook and Gower Pt. in 60-80ft of water using CopCar Coyote Spoon/Purple Haze Flasher. Hope you enjoy your visit to the coast.

Not bad for his first fish, we figured about 22 pounds!

Those are great scrappers.
Have had some great fights with the 20 pound range fish. :thumbup:
I had it pegged for mid 30,s ;D

I wish Gibsons Marina still had a scale because my guess of 22 pounds seems a little low now that you got me thinking. I caught a 25 pounder off Camper Creek / Port Renfrew a couple of weeks back and it seems smaller in the pictures that I'm looking at now. The fish was also quite a bit longer than my 36" fish tape sticker, at least 6-8" longer. Anyways no complaints as my boy had his first experience with a large fish and there ain't nothing tastier than a fresh wild red off the bbq the same day it was caught!
