ok, that's actually true, and not just funny. ;)

It wasn't till after I started casting 2-handers that I started really getting single handed casting and everything that you could do with it.

try looking up Spey casting on youtube. you will end up with lots vidoes of people doing huge long casts with single handed rods using spey casting technique  some of them are very cool.

if youtube was working for me i would post a link to a couple but for some reason i cant watch the vids anymore :wallbash: anyone know why?

Anyone have any tips or sites/articals of how to improve my roll cast?

This guy makes it look easy, but it only took me a couple of tries and I was doing it as well as he was. Listen to what he says a couple of times and it makes sense. He's also got a couple of fly tying videos as well which are bone simple.

A good high stop will almost always help to add the extra power to your cast. Cool link, theres some good videos on there.

Purely through accident, I was doing that one this afternoon on the Quinsam. I started my roll cast and didn't realize I had snagged bottom. The rest, they say, is history. It wasn't pretty, but I put a 20ft cast across the river, lol.

came on! I can't look at this. I am just practicing my basic cast :wallbash: :wallbash: Surely, these people have a casting gene! And if you think this is not true please don't say anything :-X

ya i know its not that hard Jamie but if you do it slightly wrong you eat fly line in the face  I have to also mention that most of the guys doing single handed spey casts they are using a floating line which makes it WAY easier to do. try doing these casts with a heavy sink tip on and see what happens  I can do some spey casts with my single hander but thats only because i know some basic two handed casts. Once i learn how to do all the spey casts like a pro then everything will be simple again   ya right :wallbash:
