Met up with Big Steel, Rod In Hand at 4:30 AM. Where you ask ...... Tim Horton's of course.

Man that Tim's at Whatcom Road is busy that time of morning ...... so we decided to head out towards Chilliwack ..... stopped at the Tim's there just off the freeway ...... and to our good fortune it was almost a graveyard. Nice when you don't have to wait 3/4 of an hour for health food.

Proceeded to the boat launch above Agassiz Bridge ....... everything went as planned ....... except when we got to our original destination ..... there were campers on it. It was a little shallow to bring the boat in a little up river from there .... I tried ....... failed miserably .... and we then decided to look for another spot.

Took a ride up the river ....... checked out the early AM crowd at SeaBird Island as we passed ....... and then proceeded further up river. Didn't see anything interesting so we came back down a ways and tried a bar that looked interesting. There were two guys camped on it. Went to shore ...... saw quite a few rise inside the seam but in almost completely dead water. After a short time we decided that this was not the place we wanted to spend our day so we moved on.

We noticed another flow that looked pretty good ........ so we decided to check it out. Within a few casts Rod In Hand had a nice Sockeye hooked and landed it. I looked down river and Big Steel has a Spring on ........ I reeled in and went to get the net to assist him ........ but I was too late. Big Steel tried to beach it and it came unbuttoned right close to shore. About a 16 pounder ..... chrome silver ....... oh well ..... let the fun continue.

Rod In Hand and I were soon wondering what Big Steel had done to his rig (just kidding) ....... Right after that he nailed 2 socks in about 6 casts ...... I still hadn't touched a fish. But then isn't that what are hosts supposed to do .......... <lol> NOT.

I lost 3 in a row before I finally landed my first ....... now that is embarassing.

Thanks, for joining me for a great day on the flow guys ....... and a pleasure to meet you both (Big Steel and Rod In Hand_ ...... we'll have to do it again sometime ...... was fun.

Yes indeed, that was a great day out, so relaxing with us being the only ones there!! Pity about the Spring that popped off, but hey, you get some you lose some!! It was great meeting you guys today, real gentleman!! Thank you so much for the offer and for trip. BTW, Wicked boat GoFish!! That is now my new Dream boat!!
On another note, on average, the sockeye weren't really that big, but we did get a couple real nice sized ones!! :) Easy over 7, maybe 8lbs.
