Well - someone up there doesn't want me to land an adult coho this fall! Chum8888 and I hiked into the top end of the 'wack and did pretty well - as far as fish pull goes. Very busy on the flow today. However, I did not see a single coho amongst all the anglers - until early afternoon when I hooked a beauty 8 -9 lb coho hen. She was very easy to control - compared to those big springs and chum. She was a beautiful chrome bullet - with a missing adipose fin, with my hook solidly right in her mouth. Anyway, I had her pretty much "beached" when a fellow angler was kind enough to attempt an assisted landing. He bent down to tail the fish and it took off. My mainline somehow got caught up in his jacket zipper and...SNAP - coho released... :wallbash:. Just my luck this year I suppose. So - I have three coho jacks landed and that's all so far for coho on the Vedder for me! :-\ Anyone else having better luck on the coho? The run seems pretty sparse this year.
Good news is I've got a huge batch of spring roe from a fresh spring that chum8888 landed. In fact - it was one of three nice springs that he landed today. I'm hoping to make a reasonable facsimile of chum8888's primo roe. We'll see....
Water conditions up top were fine. Water was clear, and dropping. Mid river also looked like it was up. The river should be in great shape for tomorrow. Good luck out there for those of you who are going to wet a line.
