Thanks so much to everyone who contributed to last nights event making this our most successful fundraiser in recent memory. In all 168 people came through the door and as the dust settles it's looking like around $18,000 + were raised for the Coldwater river Habitat Restoration Project. (This total includes donations, hat and shirt sales at the event, as well as proceeds from last night etc). The efforts of everyone involved and this strong show of support confirms that a group of concerned people can come together to make a difference. Thank you for helping make this project a reality."

Just a bit of an update regarding the Eaton-Beaton Coldwater project

Following Novembers very successful fundraiser ( thanks again everyone who contributed to the success of this) the project has been undertaken and has now been completed ( some months ago) As this project was done during the winter months while the ground was frozen so as to minimise ground/soil disturbance and potential siltation etc, the pics we do have aren't very good and more or less just show some ice and snow (thats why they aren't included here).
Project details here: http://www.steelheadsociety.org/sites/default/files/EATON.pdf
and project completion announcement here: http://www.steelheadsociety.org/sites/default/files/The SSBC Eaton-Beaton Coldwater Project completion announcement.pdf

On to the next habitat restoration project

Continuing to move along with more habitat restoration projects in the Thompson river watershed, SSBC applied to various funding sources/partners to secure money for our biggest Thompson tributary habitat project to date; the Nicola project. There was a considerable amount of work put into securing funding as the was a very brief window of opportunity to apply. Much to our surprise and relief, SSBC was successful in this particular application (we weren't successful in other applications for the same project though). SSBC will post progress results regarding the Nicola project. This is a big deal and we are very excited about this one as it will have a major impact regarding controlling sedimentation/siltation issues on the Nicola.

From a personal standpoint it's a huge relief to be at the stage we are on this one as the way things normally work time wise, it's November when we usually start looking for money for the following years project. Its a huge stressful burden off the shoulders of the few volunteers that take the initiative to organise these projects. Its nice knowing we almost have this one in the bag already in the first half of the year; just means we can continue with the momentum but can breath just a little bit easier:)
