from Tunkwa Lake Resort website

We had the areas fisheries bioligist out doing oxygon/PH readings under the ice and at varying levels. Tunkwa and Leighton lakes are in great shape and are wintering well. Ice thickness is much less then normal, at about 16", compared to the normal of 22-24". We have been under a warm spell for over 3 weeks now, not much snow left at lower elevations, lots in the hills, and lake level appears to be rising under the ice. We are predicting an early ice off this year, and will keep you posted. Last spring the ice was completely off on April 13.
