The long awaited sockeye fishery has finally picked up over the last few days in local waters. The run seems to be a little late this year and now the fishery is consistent. We have been having most of our luck between the T-10 and the Sandheads. We have been trolling slowly between 30 and 70 feet. Sockeye quite often show themselves by finning and jumping, so always look for signs while trolling around. We have also been running a deep rod with a chovy and flasher for chinook while fishing for sockeye and hit a couple chinook this week with this method.

This sockeye fishery should last for the next couple weeks or so. But with things being late again this year it could go longer. After the sockeye finish in early to mid September the large white springs should roll in full force.
Tight lines and enjoy the last few weeks of summer.
