I drove by the canal on Saturday noon after I went to the Peg, and walked around and watched 10 pinks by the logs, did a few cast but only got one bite from a sucker fish. The guy beside me had one on. The water is clear, but not much to be seen. We were short floating with 2 to 3 foot leaders. Probably another week or so.

Put in a full day on the vedder yesterday..... hooked at least 20+ pinks, limited out..... same with my buddy.... lot's of roe to cure and meat for the smoker... saw a guy fishin' a 5wt hook into a rather large spring that had him runnin' down river for his rod's life, luckily his tippet broke cuz the look of fear on that guys face was priceless. Pinks are definately moving into the system now.... a great day, lot's of sun, and pops and sunburn.... :beerchug:

Cheers,

Jah

Fished the lower canal yesterday from 7 a.m. till noon. Saw scores of fish surfacing and frothing about. Hooked two on a spoon, and my partner had several hits on roe by coho jacks. King of the river though was an older gent in his boat who kept nailing fish after fish! From what we could tell he was using a little pink jig and giving the herk and jerk along the bottom. Saw him bring in some nice chrome fish. Water was slow so the fishing was a little tougher, but if you bring what they want, there's definitely a lot of fish in the lower part of the system.

I was out there last Thursday, Fly Fishin the canal (Mouth). Was using a #8 "Rajah" on a slime line and was into the Pinks on almost every cast. I got one Coho jack also. I tied a few for my buddies, gave them my small boat and they hit it yesterday and were into them consistantly. Unfortunately, I was Golfing and couldn't hit the flow. :'(
