Was chatting with someone at one of the local tackle shops. He really thought the Coho run in the Vedder was going to last at least another 4 weeks. Was wondering what the other experienced Vedder anglers are thinking of this season? And if that's true than the lower Fraser should still be producing for the next few weeks too?

Cheers all and thanks in advance for your replies.

Haha, yes the local tackle shops in Chilliwack, would like you to think that. But IMO the peak of the run has passed. There will be small spurts of fresh fish coming in, but I think most of those fish will be Chum. And just around the corner is steelhead season on the Vedder. However, if you still want to concentrate on coho late into the year, I would hit other systems like the Chehalis, and the Stave. Just my two cents worth.

From my experience I believe you are both right ......... the Coho run in the Vedder will probably last about another 4 weeks ......... and yes, the major run of Coho has probably already come and gone.

I think the local tackle shops, (the major ones anyhow), have built their reputation on being knowledgeable and informative. I've always found them to provide pretty reliable information ..... a lot of them are either on the water, or well connected with people who have been, as much or more than anyone.

Actually they should still be fishin strong till mid Nov, I've caght darks in the first week of Dec, then the steel should be knockin at the door. The Chehalis used to get a late run of coho, we used avoid the vedder on boxing day and pound the Chehalis and catch coho and steelhead. Haven't done that for a few years though
