Well decided to meet up with DMW, Searun and his son for some coho fishing on the Vedder. We arrived at our run with no one around which was sure nice on a weekend. Well second cast and fish on. Landed a nice 8.5lbs hatchery coho. Also hit a chum and a buck spring and lost another. Here is the picture of the coho. All fish where caught on roe except for the chum which was on a blade.

No not to long in the bush, maybe not long enough, what a culture shock after all the peace and solititude of the rocky mountains and then come home to 4 noisy kids and a bitchy old lady, good thing i got my elk or she would have been really pissed to have forked out the cash for my latest adventure. ;D

Nice coho, flyguy! Wow, I'd love to get that beauty on my fly, bring it in, give it a kiss, and slip it back into the unknown.

Nice job.

My last day on the mainland saw me get a 12lb hatchery coho, a 20 pound ******, and a 30lb ****** ( lost it close to shore but oh so close ) all on the fly. I was using my Loop 10' 7wt and an 8lb leader. Got the 20lber in after a good battle, the 30 gave me some problems and eventually the leader broke right near the shore. This rod is fairly new and this weekend was its first real test. I must say its an awesome rod. Handled the fish very nicely. All these fish including the coho were released. I bonked a nice coho yesterday that I am bringing home but since I walked on the ferry I didnt want any more fish to take home.

We also used the gear rods when the morning bite died off and before the evening bite. Got a few springs and lost a nice hatchery coho.

I had a great weekend on the Vedder with some old friends. Tomorrow morning its time to go back to paradise. I sure dont miss the crowds, rippers, snaggers oh and the traffic on the roads. Nice place to visit from time to time especially to see friends but I will take the laid back lifestyle of the island anyday.

Cheers
B
