Made a quick trip out to the Vedder this morning. Wandering into a nice hole on the lower first light and with in about 20 min I had lost my first nice sized coho of the day. Was on roe. After that not a whole lot was going on so I started working my way down river to a couple other runs. About 10 min into the run, float down and there was a good battle ans some flashing goin on. Not so long after had a nice Hatchery buck to the beach.

So I stayed at that run for a little longer and kept workin it woth some roe and not long after, float down again and another rather spirited battle was on. a pretty heafty dime bright doe was rolling all over the place. After a really nice battle, got her to the beach and it was another hatchery fish. A beautiful big healthy doe.

So now that I had spent more time on the river than I had expected to today, I decided to pack it up and head out. Ran into a nice fellow on the way back up river that said he would take some pics for me, so here are a couple more at one of the pits.

I really like it, you can feel everything and it has a real good hookset, but during the fights especially with the big doe, it was double right to the handle more than once, but did a fine job. The reel was buttery smooth and casted great. The drag was awesome as well. So yeah, for the first trip I am rather happy with it. Hoping to get out again soon, but looks like I may not get anytime off now till the weekend. Was hoping to get a rainy friday off as well, but it's not lookin good for it.

The rod must be Moderate action. My G. Loomis 1261 is a fast action rod. It doesn't take much pressure to get it to flex but doesn't bend all the way to the handle like a slow action rod does. Most light line rods that I see ( the loomis is rated 4-10lb. 1 power) are slow action rods. I love fast action rods for the baitcaster and I've landed 20lb. fish with this rod. I must admit, if you foul hook a larger fish with it you may as well poit the rod and break it off. It doesn't have the power to horse a fish in like that but when a coho drives that float down, it's a beautiful thing.
