Well, a buddy and me fished from 7:00am to 2:00pm. We started from Wilson rd. and went upstream to 4 or5 holes. We caught one fish that wasn't in very good shape. I usually use corky and yarn, but found in the upper river the corkys tend to float your leader out of the fish zone, so I think it best to eliminate the corky when fishing this type of water.

As others have said in the last update, fishing will not improve very much until mid september, but I'll probably go again next week to try out a new reel.

I also saw a few people fishing the limit hole, but I must say It could have been marked better than it was by the fishery dept. I know this isn't really much of an excuse since one should be able to estimate 100 meters

You could use a shorter leader and still use the corkie if you want. I've gotten fish in very clear water with about a 8" 10lb leader(not florocarbon)

thanks for the tip Shane. I have never used leaders that short since my thought was that so short a leader would be too close to the other terminal gear(lead, etc.) and would make the presentation ot the fish too unnatural. i normally use 18" to 24" depending on the clarity of the water. I guess if I haven't tryed it, i should not assume the above.

part of the fun for me is finding a quiet spot to fish
away from the crowds :wallbash:
it takes more skill sometimes to catch fish in these areas but thats fishing to me
sure its nice to have someone around to land a fish for you or take a photo of your fish but you don't need a crowd for that
Plus most of the crowd folk are not willing to help you, more likely to jump in your spot if you catch one :wallbash:

jump your spot or don't even bother asking you if they can fish below you. like honestly! (met only about 3 people who actually ask beside myself ) :wallbash: it made no sense when my friend had a fish on and someone took his spot, then the guy had a fish on as well. but when my friend went to take his spot back the guy says thats my spot and gave him the look.

I agree with you whole heartedly one time when me and my buddy were fising in a "gong show" we were both trying to fugure out what hook to put on when the guy beside us flung his weight and hit my friend square in the back of the head (I guess there was a reason there was so much room around this guy ::) :p
