Well decided to meet up with fishfreak this morning to give the pins a good work out on the vedder. I meet up with fishfreak at whatcom road early in the morning and we made our way through some heavy rain to the upper area of the vedder. We arrived at our run and we where the only 2 there and we could see springs rising. I baited up with some roe and first cast and fish on but it was off just as quick. Then it was fishfreaks turn with the same result. But then his next cast the fish stayed on longer but it also came off. It was my turn again but this time the fish was landed. It was not that bad of shape but beyond what I would keep so it was revived and released. Fishfreak got into another which was bigger then the one I just released and it was also landed but beyond what he would keep so it was also revived and released. We each got into some more and then the crowds started to show up. Not your usual crowd for this area but the type you would see further up, if you know what I mean. Once they all got there the fishing died off and we decided to leave as we could no longer enjoy the fishing. We headed to the mid river with no results and then drove down to the lower(canal) to have a look and you could see that the rain had an effect on the water clarity. All and all it was a good morning of fishing and not only did the pin get a work out but so did my arms

Nothing like fighting a behemoth on a rod fixed with a 1:1 ratio reel! Right on, any ohocs showing or is it still a couple weeks early? Too bad about team A showing up, did they push you out or did you sit back and laugh at their antics?

Yes it definatly is alot different fighting a fish with a pin compared to a levelwind. The pin is definatly a blast. I can not wait for the fall and especially steelhead season.

It sure was fun watching guys fish with a float and using a bouncing betty as the weight  . Or the guy using the betty with his float upside down. First drift threw the run he hooks bottom as the betty was way to heavy and sunk his float. Or even the guys fishing for reds with tiny spinning rods ???

Exactly why some sort of test to pass before being issued a license would solve SO many problems out there and help protect our fishery here in BC.

I've said this for years Shane, a test just like for hunting. It'll never happen though, probably 50% of the people out there fishing right now dont have licsences, or know that they even need one.

Did you just laugh or tell something as well to those guys?

No just held back a smirk as I am sick and tired of trying to explain it. Although fishfreak did try to explain to one fellow but he just smiled and nodded. :wallbash:

It was good to see you again FishFreak. I am the other guy that was with Scruffy today. We fished there for about an hour after you two left. We didn't hook into any springs, just a couple of small rainbows or steelie smolts which we released carefully. After that we headed downriver to another spot. Two casts in Scruffy hooked into a 8lb. buck which was a little greyish but still nice and firm. We decided to take it for the smoker. Stayed there for about another hour but didn't hook anything else. We tried a couple of other spots in the mid river but no luck. All in all it turned out to be a decent day on the flow.

it would of been funny to see the look on their faces when either of their rods would of flattened as for the pin it's really hard to go back to a baitcaster once you've played and landed fish
