Is anyone having any luck fly fishing for Springs in the Vedder? If so with what type of fly?

No luck yet...lots of trout, no salmon...every fly under the sun just about..

Same here, lots of trout which is always cool, but nothing on the fly for the big boys.

Reds are tough to get on the fly it seems :wallbash: probably because the water is alot higher this time of year. and i also havent got any on the fly :'(

I hit the Vedder on Th & Fri, and got skunked on the socks and chinooks, inspite of several jumpers and surfacing activity. I used everything from red/pink salmon/steelie flies, to even fry imitations. But I did tag into several nice trout, especially on the minnow patterns. Wow, I had no idea that the Vedder had nice-fighting and sizeable trout. My 8 wt. was overkill on those critters, should have brought my 4 wt. instead.

I even tried dead drifting with my sink tip with split shots, and still nada. But I have to try that black leech pattern that someone mentioned on here. Thanks!
