Hey all,

After reading the post on Coquitlam river, I am even more motivated to try to get involved with stream restoration programs.

I know it's a big city, but after moving down here from the interior a few years back, it's really sad to see these streams full of garbage and excess silt along with a dwindling fish population.

It sure would be nice to clean up these small streams and make them fishable again! I know there are many kids who would appreciate it in the future. ( and I wouldn't mind getting out for a close CNR fish!)

Thanks

Hey Bronjuan,

I would love to get involved with similar projects as well. What organizations are there around? I imagine that any stream restoration projects would have to be approved by the DFO and so would mostly go through as organization?

Hey good to see some people thinking of giving back.

Float Fisher has provided a great list and there is absolutely nothing I can add to it for the Coquitlam area.

There are a couple other options in my sig that can provide some fantastic volunteer ops for those interested.

You can also contact DFO community advisors they have their fingers on the pulse of the local stewardship community and could provide a tonne of valuable info.

Some local CA's that pop into my mind are Joe Kambitz, Tom Cadieux and Mark Johnson. All fantastic people (Joe is also one hell of a feather chucker) and very knowledgeable. You should be able to find their contact info on DFO's site.

My humblest appologies to Mark, Joe and Tom if my spelling is wrong.
