Thanks for posting the article,Rod. It did appear in a condensed form in the Van. Sun today. In speaking with some interested parties, they think the Sturgeon, instead of loafing on the bottom for half the year, actually migrate considerable distances, and perhaps the fish at bonneville are in a hperoxygenated invironment, which might explain why many large fish are found in the boiling, deep pools of the Fraser Canyon, which very few people fish. There was a great vid posted on this site a while back of a huge sea lion eating a sturgeon in the Columbia and the sturgeon was large!!.....The sturgeon Cons.Socity estimates of sturgeon for the Fraser are considerably lower than that of the Columbia River? Can't comment on that...What I can comment on is the Sturgeon is primarily targetted between Hope and the Mission bridge (around 45- 50 miles of river) whereas the Columbia sturgeon are fished heavily from the Canadian border to the mouth of the river (4-500 miles) Many sturgeon in our zone are recaptures. I wonder if the Lilloett fish are recaptured as well or are there lots there we don't know about??..........Ortho 8)
