Well my trip is fast approaching, actually only 8 more days till my father-n-law and I fly out to the west coast for 4 days of guided fishing ;D . I was just wondering if anyone knows how the fishing has been. We are doing 2 days of Halibut and chinook and 2 days of just chinook.

Where are you heading......that's gonna have a bearing in "knowing how the fishing's been"?? :peace:

I am counting the days myself....heading to Kuyuquot in 3 weeks.
aYup, agree with Pippen on this one. Kinda helps to know what area you're referring to, as the West Coast is rather a large area.
Just back in from a few weeks (OK, months really) WCVI, so if that's your destination, just say the word and I'll fire off what I saw out there...

Cheers,
Nog
We fly into Tofino and then shuttle out not too far from there. I know the lodge is not to far. Sorry that is all I have. The father-n-law and Mother-n-law booked it for my birthday
I am very jealous   Good luck Flyguy :beerchug: :drunk:
It seems like the fish are moving in a bit up north...I guided at a lodge midway up the charlottes last week in may and only 15 springs were caught by 38 guests over 4 days....last week i was in the whale channel area and were were getting 20 or more a day...our farmers are telling us that agricultural crops are 4-6 weeks behind...i kinda think maybe the fish are too

Incoming PM...

Have a Blast out on our local waters FlyGuy. Given the fishing of late, I am reasonably certain you are in for a lot of FUN!!

Matt...

Do you have any ideas in and around Kyuquot? Not sure if we will have to run offshore quite a ways....hoping for some hali's too as the "supply" is down to 0 lbs!!

Haven't been over there....just out of Tofino in the past (which will be happening in early August). I may look at a day with you out of Ukie as well.

May look to jump on and share a charter......I saw some mention of it on "that other site". :peace:

Hope all is well with you.

Scott
HiYa Scott,,
Haven't been up around Esperanza / Kyuquot since we moved south in May. But I have heard of some good catches up that way before we were shut down. If I recall correctly, the better places were tight to shore (Grassy area in ~ 20 fathoms) right outside of Kyuquot) and of course outside adjacent to Esperanza Reef. Suspect you'll find hali's too if you scout around the humps on the flats.

I do have one fella looking to split a charter alright. SeanM (Cayman Islander these days) is looking hard at that, but there's always room for one more. Drop me a PM or E and we can discuss. And of course should it not work out for that run, there is always another. Quite a few of the Ladz lurking that I can discuss such a show with...

Good Luck up North! I think I would be hunting the springs fairly tight to the beach if it were me. Best catches from the past 2 weeks were coming in from there, and it very much looks like they're going to follow that pattern they established last year again this. Have FUN, and do let us know how you make out!! :beerchug:

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks Matt!!

I will be in touch for sure and thanks for the Kyuquot info. Staying inshore sounds great.....and definitely easier!!

I will keep an eye on when SeanM is looking at heading out and fire you an e-mail to see how the schedule is looking! It will be fun to fish with an "old pro" on the WCVI.

Take care of yourself and have fun out there!

Scott
Thanks for the info IronNoggin. It is going to be a tough week going to work knowing what to expect. Actually I only have 3 days next week  This will be a trip that my father-n-law has wanted to do all his life so I will pass on the info to him this weekend. Man is he going to be pumped like me.
