What I saw was a troller like vessel drifting down the fraser river today, under the Alex Fraser. This boat
had two 25ft outriggers streached out either side with pontunes at each end. Along the three or so inch
diameter boom were a series of smaller pipes about two feet apart that reached down and into the water.

Now, they were not going very fast and the opperation of this setup going downstream was the norm. This
boat looked like a crop duster but my guess is sonar to map out the rivers bottom.

Any ideas....

Premapping for dredging in the future, or checking the depth of sediment buildup in certain areas compared to others, to reduce the possibility of major changes in the water direction?....Ortho 8)

I now that they are seriously looking at making another shipping port either in Pitt Meadowes or Mission. They could be mapping it out for the future.
