Going to fish Bell Buoy, T10 marker and the Sand Heads this weekend, I have only launch at Sunset Marina. How far of a boat ride is it from Sunset to the Fraser? Looking for something closer, any recommendations would be great.

Hi, Jefferson.

The launch at Vanier beach is in false creek right by the planetarium. From there is a short run to the belly bouy, but a long run to sand heads. MacDonald beach in Richmond might be a more central location for you to try all three. I've never used that ramp, but I'm sure someone else can post info about it. Let us know how you make out, good luck.

Hey jefferson

McDonald Beach Boat Launch Ramp

McDonald Beach Boat Launch is located on the north bank of Sea Island at the end of McDonald Road. Facilities include two ramps, public washrooms, picnic tables and a small concession.

Hope this helps and just remember the water can be nasty depending on the tides at sand heads kind of like being in a paint shaker.

hey jefferson

I live in kits and have always used the vanier park launch at the planetarium which also has 2 ramps. make sure you check the tides before you launch there as getting in or out during the extreme low tide can be impossible. I havent used the mcdonald beach launch by the airport yet but am going to try this afternoon. i checked it out last week and it looks great and would be your best bet for t 10 or sandheads for sure. I'll let you no how it goes.

P.S parking for truck and trailer is 10 bucks at vanier not sure about mcdonald
