The 9.9 High Thrust kicker from Yamaha seems to be the popular choice for a trolling motor for most guys I see out there.

Can someone tell me an actual good Vancouver area purchase price for these engines with e-start, e-tilt/trim etc?

Anyone have one who would have gone with something else if they had to do it again?

I have the Yamaha 8HP HT, remote electric start.
Starts/Runs excellent. Excellent fuel economy.
Pushes my 22' starcraft just fine. Think I might go 9.9 HT next time though to run at a lower rpm while trolling.
I got the X-Long shaft, and I'd recommend it based on my use so far, as there have been times when it comes out of the water. But I guess it depends on your boat.
Place I bought it from doesn't sell them anymore.

BCI Totally agree with J-GLOBAL that you get a long shaft. Also heard some people have problems with their Yamaha portables but only because they don't flush out their motor after use in the salt water. Have a good one.

Check out across the border. I just picked up a used Nissan 9.8 Four Stroke, long leg, 04 model for $1000 on Craigslist. When I was looking I also found lot's of options in Victoria on usedvictoria.com
