That's a good post Matt. Many here on the forum have only been fishing the Fraser for say less than ten years so all they see is all these jets out there and assume that props aren't any good on the water, or it's too dangerous of a river to use a prop in. Let me ask this how do you's think we got around on the river 20 years ago. Then there were only a handful of guys with jets, the more common was the 12 to 14ft with a 9.9 - 15hp on it. this craze of jets has created a false sense of security that they can go anywhere. Yeah it just means they can launch it further up on a sand bar than joe with his put put, or how many guys have had to be towed or limp back cause of crap in the impeller. I have to agree with what many on here have said it's the operator and how confident he is with the equipment and the river. If you want to learn in a relatively safe area, spend time below Sumas Mtn. It is deep enough for the most part and you can practice reading water with out getting yourself into anything hairy. Then start working your way up river watch how the water reacts to the gravel shelves and how to read the currents. Most important don't be scared of the river just respect the hell out it cause if your cocky she'll bite you in the ass

No I agree with you totally on the fact the 6 is way too small for the river, it is the balance of power can get you into trouble , but it's nice to have the power to get you out of it also. Even with the old 9.9's you were pretty much at the mercy of the river and it was a slow ride.
